Tomatoed Red Kidney Beans

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2-3 tbsps cooking oil (sunflower oil)
  • 2-3 green cardamoms, crushed
  • 1tsp cumin powder
  • 1tsp coriander powder
  • 1tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tbsps tomato ketchup
  • 2 cup red kidney beans
  • 1 cup water


  • Boil the beans.
  • Set the deep pan over medium heat and heat the oil.
  • Fry the onions and red pepper.
  • Add crushed cardamoms, cumin powder, coriander powder and chili powder.
  • Add tomato paste, chopped tomatoes and tomato ketchup.
  • Stir a while and mix well.
  • Add pre-boiled beans and a cup of water. Let it boil for some time until the water is reduced and gravy is thick.
  • Serve with rice.
